| Live like a king for a pauper's price at the Am Berg.
The romantic sandstone villa with garden is located on a
quiet street south od Südbahnhof. For those in know
(including you, now) it's a creatively decorated
secret hiding place within the city limits. |
Description: Hotel am Berg used to
be the residence of the family who owned Kempff Brewery.
For a basic single without a bath (bathroom down the hall),
it is quite cheap: 34 Euro (29 Euro on weekends) Our room cost
63 Euro per night with bath and Sat-TV (price is 71 Euro on
weekdays).
All room rates are slightly higher during Frankfurt trade fairs
(considered "High season").
Breakfast is 9.00 Euro. Parking is free.
Unique Qualities: Hotel am Berg looks
like a castle from the outside, and inside the rooms are all
differently decorated. I stayed there with a friend who was
visiting and our double room was done up in a far-out 70's style.
I peeked into another room that had a fake tiger pelt carpet
and seemed to have the wild animal theme.
Comparative Price: less expensive than average
A
secret insider’s tip, this bed and breakfast is quietly
situated in a private villa in the quarter of Sachsenhausen. Surrounded
by an air of calmness, its special ambience and warm decor make
every visitor feel at home and at ease.
There are a small number of guest rooms and most are en suite
but fresh fruit, tea- and coffee-making facilities, as well as
news-papers and magazines, are always available and the guests
share a comfortable living and TV room.
Am Berg is the perfect meeting place for travellers who
enjoy spending breakfast with fellow travellers, talking about
local gossip.
„... in a lovely old sandstone building
in the quiet back streets ... clean, pleasant, and friendly."

An oasis:
Great hotel in a old, beautiful mansion. Interesting interiors,
garden.
Car park. Quiet neighborhood, friendly staff. With or without
breakfast, with your own or shared bathroom and toilet.
Good value, good location. |

A
colorful, romantic inn, the Am Berg is not so much a hotel
as a nice guesthouse. Because of its location, hidden away in a
residential area near the Südbahnhof (south train station),
many locals aren't even aware it exists.
The Mock-Tudor-style hotel was built in the late 1800s and has a
quiet backyard garden where guests may relax. Each room has its
own unique decor. A stay here is worth much
more than the price.
